Today the world is as globalized as it could be - - yet we struggle to find meaning in our daily existence.

Voigtlander Bessa R3A

I've gotten completely analog.

Not that I have anything against using digital machines. I just find that using a digital camera is not as enjoyable (for a lack of a better word). But why film? Primarily, the whole manual process of loading a canister of film into the spool, setting the iso, winding 0 - firing, winding 00 - firing again; then manually focusing, setting the aperture, and the shutter speed to get that near perfect exposure for each of the 36 (give or take, mostly take) raw frames (that don't need to be touched up, or edited afterwards) is what makes photography so much more enjoyable for me.

So, I traded in my D7000 for a Voigtlander R3A. It's a rangefinder, which means it uses a dual-image range finding device. You have to line-up the two images for your subject to be in focus. It's definitely a lot more trickier than a SLR. One of the biggest pros of using a rangefinder is it's size and compactness, which makes it ideal for the type of photography I enjoy, that is, street. Next, it's a lot quieter than a mirror flipping SLR (no pun intended). The only thing that bothers me is that I can't focus anything under 0.7 meters (about a foot) away. I guess I can use my SLR for that. All in all, the R3A has been one of the most enjoyable cameras I've used (aside from the Leicas). I don't think I'll be shooting with my FE2 for a while. =x

Rolls: Fuji Superia 400, Kodak Trix400, Kodak Tmax400, Kodak Portra 160nc, and Kodak Portra 800.
Can you guess which ones are which?
Hope you enjoy them!
