Today the world is as globalized as it could be - - yet we struggle to find meaning in our daily existence.

On a Rare Day off

I don't usually get days off, but I was fortunate enough to get two days off due to testing at my school. So I went to Chungmuro to get a b/w (compilation taken about two weeks ago) roll developed. Then randomly bumped into Jamie and Lyz on the street, before meeting up with Jungle and perusing the toy camera stores, and eating delicious kalguksu at Myeongdong. After they left, I decided to finish the roll, and then got that roll developed today.

With that being said, I've successfully kept up with my 2011 resolution of shooting&developing (at least) 3 rolls/month.

I think I've found a nice niche within this photography world.
Perhaps, you've noticed?
Maybe, I'm mistaken.

Reserva Sunday

Saturday was not a good day.

Long story short, the pvc pipe connecting my toilet to the cesspool had been frozen since last Thursday. That meant whatever went tried to go down, hit the ice wall and came right back up. So, yesterday after work, the plumber, the villa owner, and I spent 6 and a half hours dealing with this abominable ice monster. Mr. Freeze would have been proud. mr freeze1Regardless, there was no way we were going to let Bruce Wayne, let alone pretty boy George, down. After an hour of using the toilet snake (haha, google it, didn't think I'd get so many literal images), we realized that that wasn't going to cut it. Eventually, we had to bring out the BFG 9000 (google that one too), and after 5 and a half hours, we managed to melt the _________ out!

Anyways, I guess everybody's gotta deal with some sh*t now and then..

So, I figure I'd get out of the neighborhood, get some air, and snap some moments to relieve all that stress. The day started out with a slight overcast, and a tall-boy of Starbuck's drip coffee, before getting scuttled along in the subways. Hopping out of Dongdaemun Station I was eager to drop off my B/W 400 Tmax film, but upon reaching Chungmuro I was in for another setback! All but 2 stores were open, and none of them processed any film! Hah, like that was going to stop me. Well, I couldn't justify going back home empty-handed, so I went on a mission today to get at least one color roll shot & developed.

The Future

I don't consider myself a technology junkie, nor do I care to keep up with some of today's most digitized citizens, but conceptually, this do-it-all smartphone seems quite impressive. Do we even call this a smartphone anymore?

A New Year for New Moments

So far, so good. I mean it's only been 10 days, but this year has been going great! I hope that you all are having a great time as well! I've been on a blogging hiatus lately due to a busier workload at work, but I enjoy the increased productivity. I mean once next month rolls around, I'm going to have to find more ways to keep myself busy! As for my photography resolution this year, I'm going to be shooting more during the weekday mornings (along with the weekends), and try to get in at least 3 rolls a month. As for my blog resolution, I'm going to be posting more than last year (with more focus on quality & content). Also, I'm interested in starting a photography portfolio (so if you have any advice in this area, please let me know, ty!).

&, I'm shooting strictly film now, and I feel a lot lighter without my d40 laying around (though she's already pretty light). I had my mom take it back home, so my dad could revel in his slr days (*cause he doesn't shoot with his nikon f90x anymore, but the coolpix p/s) without having to throw in a new roll every 36 shots. I hope he finds time to shoot around with it! This roll was taken a few weeks ago, starting with my academy's christmas party with the co-workers, then proceeding to my mom's visit to Seoul a few weeks ago. It would have been nice if I didn't have to work so much, but I'm still very glad and thankful for the few weekends that we spent together!
